Downloading torrent says downloading metadata and doesnt do anything

By Peterbilttrucker , January 13, in Troubleshooting. Downloaded Bittorrent 7. Then, I tried to download other movies and see if that would fix anything but, still nothing. It may just be the firefox firewall but, tried to run test on it and everything checked out.

I have linksys connection, if that is helpful. In the buttom right of the screen on Bittorrent is a red indicator saying something about the firewall is limited something like that and clicked on it, ran connection test and so forth. Again, still nothing and "Downloading metadata" is at a stand still. Currently, I have only one movie on the torrent at the moment and going to give it a few mins or an hour or so.

Anyways, any help is appreciated. I'm running BitTorrent Total Security however after this started happening I disabled the firewall and antivirus. Currently trying to download 31 torrents, about half have "Downloading metadata" in the status bar, and it appears to be random when it comes to which torrents this happens to. I'm not sure where I can find that information about the internet security software Where can I find that info?

Right now, the DHT is reading nodes. Also, that red indication symbol in the buttom right hand corner in Bittorrent is changed to yellow and saying "No Incomming connections" Any ideas? Unfortunately, don't have any internet security software I bought this laptop day after Christmas and apparently it has the Norton software advertisement that pops up every startup and wants you to sign up a regstation form but, I don't trust Norton and definitely don't trust mcafee.

Anyways, you were right, the firewall needed to be configured. Had to reset the default settings and use recommanded sources and now, bittorrent is working fine again but, not sure if that could be the solution. However, thanks soo much for your help and will let you know if any more issues interfers. Second thought If the availability of the torrent doesn't exceed 0. That's the thing I cancel out the torrent and tried other ones but, they all consists of the same problem.

The availability status contains Red in all the other torrents as well. Also, tried "force start" but, still nothing. Do you think, I need to un-install and re-install bittorrent to see if that will fix anything or do you think it's something about the firewall settings? Btw, I have windows 7.

Also, is there another program that needs to be downloaded along with bittorrent? That won't fix anything. Actually, seems like bittorrent working today. Last night, I choose a torrent with alot of seeders. However, first it had the same problem with no incoming connections and decided to let it be since it was at Anyways, a few minutes ago It appears to me that, most people could been offline at the time or something or maybe I parked my big rig in a bad section.

Anyways, I do appreciate it you helping me. Thank you! OK, it wont recover by itself.. This issue is revolved by restarting the application. In my case, it won't close properly either, so I force kill it.

After restarting, it will download the metadata. After some time, any new torrent will be stuck at the metadata stage again, and so one has to keep restarting it. I don't know any better solution. I dont get it..

We ingest this directly from their PPA, I also have not been able to duplicate this. Try network bridge mode and pull traefik out from the equation. I do apologize for the delay , but we do not officially support windows as a platform and I do not believe there are any changes we can make in order to resolve this bug, we simply install the package provided by upstream in a Docker container. I will be closing this issue.

I have the same problem Mac anyone find a solution? Doesn't happen with torrents from anywhere else but my favorite EZTV. If you wish to report an issue, open a new issue and fill in the requested details or jump over to our discord. If I recall correctly issue tracker is for reporting issues.. Discord is mainly for the support - no way other people would be able to track down the solution.

So if you are willing to help, address problem here. That's where the google brings users not discord.. Anyway I took some time to test it from every corner and provided you with the all data about the case and noone really cared.. But in any case, if there is one report of a potential bug with additional info it is often not enough for us to troubleshoot unless we can reproduce it ourselves.

In such cases, other people jumping on with "same issue" is not helpful unless they also add their specific info that might help us identify a common denominator and perhaps reproduce the issue. So is there something we can do to stop the issue from happening and get the torrent started automatically and if more information is required, what is required?

In may case I have found a reason for that behaviour. It works as long as I don't use proxy. As soon as I switch over to proxy it stalls stuck at downloading metadata. Switch off proxy and restart app and it starts to download again. It first appeared after update to 4. I tried to downgrade with clean install but without success. As soon as I switch to proxy it stalls at downloading metadata. Same behaviour as macinoshee, also on 4.

Works when turning off proxy. Also works again when turning proxy on after metadata has been downloaded. If I add new magnet links after turning proxy on again, it's stuck at same issue, downloading metadata.

Yes, true. As soon as metadata is downloaded I can switch proxy on and it continues download. I can confirm the proxy issue. Add magnet link: stalls at metadata downloading usually, sometimes it works as normal. Turn off proxy, wait for metadata to download, turn on proxy and it keeps downloads. The proxy used is privateinternetaccess. I've been having this issue since like 3. I just updated to 4. I selected "Use different port on each startup" and it the torrents immediately moved from downloading metadata to downloading.

Posted January 12, Same issue here with uTorrent 1. Posted January 24, Same problem here, but with the exception that I use a socks5-proxy and magnet-links. ONLY qbittorent was the one that works.
